Product Description
An artisanal sotol distilled from wild Dasylirion plants in Chihuahua, this one-of-a-kind spirit is easy-to-sip yet distinctive. It opens with vegetal green jalapeño notes and smoky leathery aromas, balanced by earth and mineral tones in the finish.
About Padres de la Tierra
Padres de la Tierra describes itself as “an incarnation of the essence of Mexico”, launched to capture the spirit of three wild regions — the arid desert, the rock-strewn Sierra de Durango and the green plateaus of Jalisco. The brand presents artisanal distillates made under the hands of masters steeped in ancestral techniques passed down through generations. Each release is designed as a “sensory journey through wild flavours and scents”, with selection and land-care as central to their philosophy of spirit-making.
About Sotol
Sotol is a Mexican distilled spirit made from the wild plant genus Dasylirion (commonly called “desert spoon”), not from agave. The name Sotol refers both to the plant and to the spirit. It holds a Denominación de Origen allowing production in the states of Chihuahua, Coahuila and Durango.
The production process—roasting the plant heart, fermenting and double-distilling—is similar to artisanal mezcal methods. Flavor-wise, Sotol tends to present grassy, mineral and sometimes piney or vegetal notes. Because most versions are giovane (unaged), it is typically enjoyed neat or used as a substitute for tequila or mezcal in cocktails.
