Product Description

A minimalist raicilla made from wild Chico Amarillo (Agave rhodacantha) that’s easy-drinking and often wins over both newcomers and aficionados. Aromas of cooked agave, fermented pineapple and mesquite lead into a palate of wet stone and herbal-buttery finish.

About Raicilla

Raicilla is a regional agave spirit from the Mexican state of Jalisco (and certain municipalities in Nayarit), distilled from various agave species using traditional methods. It takes its name from the Nahuatl-derived word meaning “little root.” While the production methods resemble those of mezcal — roasting the agave hearts, fermenting, and distilling — raicilla allows a wider variety of agaves and regional styles than the strictly defined category of Tequila. There are two main expressions: “de la costa” (coastal) and “de la sierra” (mountain), each using different agave species and cooking/distillation techniques, which result in distinct flavour profiles. The spirit is typically enjoyed neat and reveals flavours ranging from floral and fruity to herbaceous, mineral or even peppery, depending on origin and age.
