About Zinacantán
Zinacantán Agave Spirits is a small-batch, artisanal project from Santa Catarina Minas, Oaxaca, created to showcase the region’s ancestral mezcal traditions. The brand’s spirits are distilled in ollas de barro — clay pot stills that define the Minas style — and produced in limited quantities that highlight the unique character of each batch.
Led by maestro mezcalero Don Juventino García, Zinacantán works with local agaves such as Espadín, Tepeztate, and Tobala, using earth-pit roasting and open-air fermentation to preserve authentic regional practices. The brand focuses on tradition, locality, and craftsmanship, offering agave spirits that reflect the mineral-rich soils and centuries-old distilling heritage of Santa Catarina Minas.
About Maguey Cupreata
Maguey Cupreata — a wild agave found throughout the mountainous regions of Guerrero and Michoacán — typically grows in steep, rugged terrain at higher elevations. According to Mezcal Reviews, it forms broad, spined leaves with a distinctive copper tint along the margins and generally requires 8–15 years to mature. Because its piña is dense and relatively low in water content, mezcal made from Maguey Cupreata often shows firm minerality with bright herbal, green, and lightly fruity notes that reflect its wild, high-altitude environment.
